Next Door Neighbor Blues

Gary Clark Jr. is back with a new album, Blak and Blu, and a new single, Nextdoor Neighbor Blues:

Dear Commonwealth

Check out ‘Wilder Sessions’ by Dear Commonwealth, a band my more musically talented cousin, Duncan, plays with:

*shels

I really like the *shels song below, Journey to the Plains from Plains Of The Purple Buffalo. If you like Godspeed You Black Emperor you’ll really dig these guys. I’ve been cranking this song up while watching weather updates as Isaac rolls into the mid-west. Looks like I’m going to get a thorough soaking on my bike commute home this afternoon.

Old West Goodness

A little old west goodness today. First up the Montreal Guitar Trio and the California Guitar Trio get together for the final encore song from a 2011 concert performance:

Next is CGT doing a Johnny Cash/Doors mash-up called Ghost Riders on the Storm:

Last but not least is the reason I’ve got the cowboy/western theme on my brain – I’ve been playing Red Dead Redemption on my 360. Released in 2010, the Game of the Year Edition which includes all the downloadable content is only $30, and it’s just plain entertaining western fun. The setting and imagery of the game will absorb you into your own epic spaghetti western adventure and the seemingly endless amount of things (you want) to do, accomplish, or just try for the heck of it will keep you coming back.

From Rockstar Games:

America, early 1900’s. The era of the cowboy is coming to an end.

When federal agents threaten his family, former outlaw John Marston is sent across the American frontier to help bring the rule of law. Experience intense gun battles, dramatic train robberies, bounty hunting and duels during a time of violent change.

Red Dead Redemption is an epic battle for survival in a beautiful open world as John Marston struggles to bury his blood-stained past, one man at a time.
