Eric Johnson’s Ah Via Musicom was one of those cd’s in college (way back in 1990…) that always stayed in the play rotation pile. Here’s his big hit from that album, ‘Cliffs of Dover’ and after that a live tribute to Jerry Reed:
“Something magic comes out of bending little bits of wire.”
Great chat with the gentleman David Gilmour and his Stratocaster.
I’m playing “Comfortably Numb” this weekend at our school’s talent show, and this makes me very happy I’m not doing the solo. (Tackling the string-section arpeggios in the verse has been enough.)
Galactic with Corey Glover
Galactic featuring Corey Glover recently stopped by the studio of KEXP in Seattle while on tour for their latest album, Carnivale Electricos. Here’s the full performance at KEXP featuring ‘Hey Na Na,’ ‘Out in the Street’, ‘Ash Wednesday Sunrise’, and ‘Heart of Steel’. Enjoy!
Actionsuit Extra: Reggie Watts
If you’re in the Chicago area May 16th, be sure and get tickets to see Reggie Watts at the Vic. Born Reginald Lucien Frank Roger Watts, Reggie Watts is one of those rare entertainers that seamlessly combine music and humor while either talent stands on its own.
Here’s a great clip of one of his live performances (warning, some of these clips are Not Safe For Work – nsfw):
Here’s his mega-hit on YouTube, Fuck Shit Stack, mercilessly and hilariously mocking Hip Hop like a boss – NSFW:
Here is one of his songs from the BD Sessions, ‘I Just Want To’:
King Crimson
By far one of the greatest benefits of YouTube is discovering and being able to listen to the great (and not so great) live performances of your favorite musicians, or as it is for me with King Crimson, musicians you may have previously overlooked or generally disregarded from the few songs you heard on the radio throughout your life. Here’s a sweet little instrumental improv tune, ‘Daniel Dust’, from King Crimson’s live ablum ‘The Great Deceiver 2’.
